Conference for A-Level students

Current criminology, sociology and psychology students visited Teesside University for an introductory conference. The students progress to A2 in September, where they will also commence the process of applying to university through UCAS.

The conference featured senior lecturers, Judith Eberhardt and Stephanie Scott, who opened up the different higher education pathways and careers available in criminology, sociology and psychology.

The students really enjoyed learning more about different careers within the industry and having a tour of the university. Criminology students expressed that they found the discussion and quiz on criminal acts very interesting.

Teesside University is ranked 5th in the UK for its quality of research. The final sessions touched upon sociology research undertaken at the university and the social research which takes place in the North East. The session also went into detail about the requirements to become a psychologist.

Overall, the students found the trip very informative and what they have learned will help them when they come to apply for university.
