Aspiring filmmakers to promote Weardale

The next generation of filmmakers at New College Durham have been invited to join forces with a tourism network to create a series of short videos to promote Weardale.

Weardale Visitors Network has teamed up with media students at New College Durham, with filming due to begin in September 2017. The films will focus on key attractions; shopping, eating and drinking hotspots; walking and cycling opportunities; and popular events.

Weardale Visitors Network plans to share the films on its website, discoverweardale.com, and on social media to publicise the Dale’s attractions to a wider audience.

Rupert Richardson, of Weardale Visitor Network, said: “We want to get the message out there to as many people as possible. We are looking forward to working with the students and finding out their ideas.”

Veronica Spowart, Curriculum Manager for Media at New College Durham, said: “Students working with live clients generally go above and beyond expectations to produce their best work with the skills and knowledge they have learned and in doing so stretch themselves and learn by doing."
