Visual arts student produces a winning design
A visual arts student from New College Durham has won a competition to have her design displayed as an installation at this year’s Lumiere festival.
Amy-Rose Welch, a second year Foundation Degree Visual Arts student, will have her work showcased at the prestigious light festival, as part of the BRILLIANT commissioning strand.
Amy-Rose was one of five winners, who were chosen from 125 proposals, submitted by artists from across the North East.
Veronica Spowart, Curriculum Manager for Creative Industries at New College Durham, said:
“We are delighted that Amy-Rose’s creative talent has been recognised by this high profile competition. Lumiere Durham is a fantastic platform to showcase her work and it will help her to kick start a successful career in the creative industry.”
New College Durham is a sponsor of this year’s Lumiere festival, which is taking place in Durham City from 16 to 19 November 2017. Lumiere Durham is produced by Artichoke and commissioned by Durham County Council.
