Dominik Sprancel

Course: ESOL (Full-time overseas programme)

Dominik wanted to improve his English. The ESOL programme at New College Durham was recommended to Dominik by a friend who had studied the course here too.

He said:

“My friend recommended the course and I was keen to study at such a respected college. New College Durham feels like a ‘Temple of Knowledge’, it’s calm and there are lots of places to learn. You can always ask someone for help too, it’s great!

“The best thing about the course was the teachers, they were so enthusiastic and supportive. The College is modern and I liked that everything was in one place. The facilities were great.

“I was a course representative for the ESOL programme and attended the school and college forums to represent the voice of ESOL students. I have also started a homework club for lower level students so they could get help from the advanced students during their lunchbreak.

“This course has allowed me to develop my grammar through lots of different exercises. I have also written longer texts which will help me in the future.

“The English School team were very flexible and allowed me to study on the ESOL programme alongside an accounting course. This has saved me half a year of study.”

Dominik was able to develop his English alongside studying towards an accounting qualification.
