Jamie Reeves

Course: Supported Employment

Previous school: Parkside Academy

Jamie started at the college studying our Vocational Access programme, and then progressed to Supported Employment. Jamie has gained the skills he needed for work and has now secured employment with his work placement employer.

He said:

“I came to New College Durham as it offered me the course I wanted to study. I wanted to gain the skills to prepare me for work but I didn't feel confident enough to go on a mainstream course. The tutors were friendly and it was a friendly atmosphere.  I also met some good friends during my time at college.

“The best thing about the course was having the opportunity to go on a work placement, to gain the skills for employment, and to learn how to answer interview questions.  My time at New College Durham was fun, interesting and worthwhile. The Supported Employment course has helped me to get a job.  It also helped me with interview skills and what is expected of me in the workplace. I would recommend the course to anyone who wants a job or wants to gain work experience.”

Jamie has now secured employment as a Customer Team Member with his work placement employer, Co-operative Food in Crook.
