St Aidan Lodge receives surprise skincare package
Our generous hair and beauty staff and students kindly donated a range of professional salon skincare products, such as hand creams, to St Aidan Lodge Residential Home in Framwellgate Moor.
Our Level 1 Beauty students had arranged their first visit the residents to provide a range of treatments, such as hand and arm massages and manicures, but sadly had to cancel due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
As a result, the staff and students decided they wanted to deliver a skincare package to the care home for the staff and students to enjoy. Samantha Nolan, Hairdressing Lecturer, delivered the gift, that included a range of Skin Truth products that are used by our students when they are training in our industry standard on-site spa and salon, Halo.
Pamela Ramshaw, current Level 3 Health & Social Care Worker at New College Durham, said: "Working in care at this time is extremely challenging and scary. Our team at St Aidan Lodge are working extra hard, from the management to the domestic staff, to make sure we are all safe and cared for. Morale is good and we have never worked so well as a team."
Claire McArdle, St Aidan Lodge Manager, said:
“We are so grateful and send a big thank you to New College Durham for thinking of us during this difficult time, it means so much that the community can pull together in whatever way they can to support key workers and our residents.”
Sam Nolan, Beauty Lecturer, commented: ”We wanted to make a gesture for the residents but also the staff as they are working hard under difficult circumstances - it's important to let people know that they are appreciated”.
