You will develop the knowledge and skills required to carry out a range of services and repairs to cars, car derived vans and light goods vehicles in a real working environment.

Entry Criteria

You will hold at least one GCSE at grade 4/C and one GCSE grade 3/D at maths or English.

All employers will be visited to discuss training and evidence required to complete the qualification and you will be interviewed prior to enrolment.

Additional Costs

You will be required to contribute additional fees for optional trips.

Study Aims

This apprenticeship has been designed by employers to be rigorous and responds to the needs of employers.

This programme is perfect for those who would like to become a Motor Vehicle Autocare Technician.

As an Autocare Technician, you will carry out a range of services and repairs to cars, car derived vans and light goods vehicles. You might work in an Autocare or “Fast-Fit” Centre, which may be part of a national chain or operated by a regional/local independent group/owner.

  • Technical.

  • Vehicle inspection
  • Replacement of components
  • Replace and repair tyres
  • Stock procedures
  • Vehicle 4-wheel geometry.

  • Making it happen and commercial awareness
  • Learn to strive for excellence.

Teaching and Assessment

The programme will be a mixture of classroom based theory and practical sessions.

You will be assessed through exams, a professional discussion and End Point Assessment (EPA).

You will need to complete 20% off-the-job training.

End Point Assessment

The EPA is the final stage before you complete your apprenticeship. At this stage you must demonstrate your ability to an independent end-point assessor. Your overall grade will be a distinction, pass or fail.

Placement

Your employer will provide hands-on experience in a real working environment. They will provide the training and evidence required for you to complete the qualification.
