This two year qualification is ideal for Professional Strategic Leaders in the private, public or third sector, such as Senior Leader, Executive Director, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Executive Officer, Chief Information Officer or Head of Department/Faculty. Completion will achieve a masters and CMI Level 7 Diploma.

This programme aims to develop knowledge and understanding, leadership from a strategic prospective considering the internal and external factors that influence strategic leadership and management within organisations. It provides an up-to-date knowledge of organisational theory and behaviour and allows students to review organisational strategy in line with innovation, financial planning and organisational change.

The content is mapped against the CMI Level 7 Diploma. On successful completion of all units and assessment criteria students are able to gain a Masters and CMI Level 7 Diploma.

Teaching & assessment

Each unit is allocated a number of weeks over the programme. Sessions are engaging and include both taught theory and seminar activities. The sessions aim to develop your knowledge and practice of being a Strategic Leader by using an interactive approach. This means you will be given the opportunity to apply the theory to practice. Tutorials are provided by the Course Tutor to help you with your assessments

Each unit has an assessment which has been designed by the course team and validated by the Open University.
