Beauty students get full Seaham Hall Spa experience

Our Level 3 Beauty students experienced a luxury spa day at Seaham Hall Spa, to gain an insight into how the spa industry works.

The group were taken on a tour, had full use of the spa and were even provided with lunch before taking part in a careers workshop. All the students involved said the experience was a great eye opener and has helped them decide how they wanted to progress.

Seaham Hall also offered students the opportunity to apply for a work placement and part-time work, outlining the benefits of working in a spa environment.

Katie Towel, Level 3 Beauty Therapy student, said: “I really enjoyed the experience, the whole day was so relevant to our course. I know I definitely would like to progress to work in a spa environment.”

Sarah Thomton, Senior Therapist, said: “I studied at New College Durham and found gaining experience and work placement in a spa really valuable. I’ve been working at Seaham Hall Spa for five years now and absolutely love it. I can’t thank New College Durham enough and know how much the students will benefit from the experience.”

Karina Winter, Course Leader, commented: “This was a fantastic opportunity for our students to see and experience a 5-star hotel and spa. It was also lovely to see ex-students working in the spa and using the skills and knowledge they developed at college.”

This trip was funded by NECOP.
