Important information relating to a New College Durham bubble lockdown

New College Durham has a confirmed case of COVID-19, within a learning bubble. In line with government guidance we are moving the students within this bubble to online learning. All classes will continue remote and online for these students. The affected students are the following plumbing groups: level 2 group C, level 1 group C and level 3 group A1. All these students have been contacted directly.

For all other learners, you can continue to come into college and attend your classes as normal. All relevant rooms have been deep cleaned so they are now safe to use again. New College Durham has a range of safety measures in place across the campus including regular cleaning, one-way systems, social distancing, hand sanitising stations and PPE in place where social distancing is not possible. You can find out more about the measures we have in place to ensure student and staff safety on the Coronavirus update page on our website.

Students to move to remote lessons:

Contacted students must not come into college and should self-isolate following this guidance.

You can arrange to get a test via the government website.

We ask you to isolate and participate in lessons remotely until Monday 12 October 2020.

How to access your lessons

You can access full information on how to join virtual lessons via your course page on schoology or via your class Teams page on Microsoft Teams. You can also access lesson materials and course materials through Microsoft office.

Your tutor will also contact you directly during the week to check-in and ensure you have the support you need to succeed in your studies.

Your attendance at, and participation in lessons will be monitored in the same way as in-college lessons. Please ensure you are familiar with how to access your classes prior to your first timetabled lesson, so you are able to successfully attend on time.

Our key aim is to ensure you can continue your studies unaffected. If you do have any concerns about accessing your lessons online, please speak to your tutor as soon as possible.
