AAT Awards shortlists announced
The 2019 AAT Training Provider Conference and Awards shortlist has been announced and New College Durham is delighted to be in contention for three categories; Apprentice of the Year, Tutor of the Year and Medium Sized Training Provider of the Year (size based on the number of AAT students enrolled).
Rebecca Elliott, Assistant Accountant Apprentice for The Auckland Castle Trust, has been shortlisted for achieving outstanding results under the new apprenticeship standards. Rebecca was the first New College Durham student to take the End Point Assessment and attained over 93% in each assessment, achieving a well-deserved Distinction overall. Rebecca continuously demonstrates an ability to excel in the workplace and with her college work.
She commented: “I have really enjoyed the course and the support has been brilliant. I will be progressing to study the Professional Diploma in Accounting at New College Durham so hope to achieve the same at Level 4.”
Carol Smith, AAT Programme Leader and Rebecca’s Tutor, was overjoyed by the news that she was on the shortlist for Tutor of the Year as the results for all levels and for all units across the AAT qualifications have been outstanding. Carol said: “It is fantastic to receive recognition for the hard work and professionalism of the staff, and to celebrate the success of our students. Adapting to the new Apprenticeship Standards has been an exciting challenge that our apprentices and staff have exceeded in.”
Mo Dixon, Vice Principal Higher Education and Inclusion, said: “To be shortlisted for three categories confirms the outstanding quality of teaching provided at New College Durham. The College’s highly qualified lecturers, range of support services and small class sizes make it a great place succeed and progress.”
The entire AAT delivery and support team are thrilled with the announcement and look forward to finding out the final result at the Training Provider Awards ceremony happening in Stratford upon Avon in May.
