Students to continue wearing face coverings after Easter
Published at 4.35pm on 7 April 2021.
When students return to New College Durham after the Easter break, face coverings will continue to be mandatory* in all indoor areas of the college and in classrooms.
The latest government advice details that students are required to continue to wear face coverings in class as a “precautionary measure”. This measure will stay in place until at least the 17 May 2021. The Department for Education (DfE) said: "This cautious approach will help limit the risk of transmission and enable continued monitoring of the effect of school and college returns."
The Secretary of State for Education, Gavin Williamson MP, has written an open letter to students, in response to the fantastic efforts being made by all.

*We will respect that a small number of individuals may not be able to wear face coverings due to underlying health conditions. They continue to be exempt.
