Apprentice Production Engineer

Nicholsons Sealing Technologies Ltd are a global specialist in the design and manufacture of high-temperature metal seals for aerospace, automotive and power generation sectors. 

As part of the Production Engineering team, you will learn to design and develop ‘near-net forming processes’ for critical customer applications. Working alongside toolmakers, production team leaders and design engineers you will use cutting edge CAE, engineering and structural modelling tools to develop precision rolling and forming processes that deliver rapid prototyping for test-engine development and stable, capable production processes for mature seal programmes. 

During your time as an apprentice, you will receive training and a recognised qualification in:

  • CAD (AutoCAD/Solidworks)
  • You'll learn how to use various measuring equipment such as Micrometres, Verniers and CMM
  • Designing, developing and building of new machinery and tooling
  • Operating lathes, grinders, CNC machines and other tool room equipment
  • Setting and operating plasma welding equipment 
  • Continuous improvement and 5C standards

To be a successful Apprentice Production Engineer you will have to have:

Apprentices will be supported with paid day release will benefit from a private pension scheme, non-contractual Business Performance Related Bonus, 23 days’ annual leave (rising with service) plus Bank Holidays, a working week of 38 hours over 5 days with an early Friday finish, offering excellent work/life balance.
