Academic Registry Services

Academic Registry is responsible for certificating all courses studied at New College Durham. We can also confirm the validity of documents issued by New College Durham and provide information about previous qualifications studied here. Further details can be found below in the Qualifications and Certificates section.

Academic Registry is also responsible for Data Protection and Freedom of Information. Further details can be found below in the Information and Records section.

    If you have not received your HE certificate within three months of the final assessment board for your programme or have any other query regarding your certificate, transcript or diploma supplement, please contact This email address is being protected from spambots.     All queries regarding Further Education (FE) qualifications achieved within the last five years should be directed to This email address is being protected from spambots.   • Higher Education  Replacement Certificates

    Higher Education Replacement Certificates

    Replacement certificates are available from the relevant awarding body. There is usually a fee for this service and the awarding body’s website will have further information about costs and how to apply (see the individual links below).

    • NCD Foundation Degrees: contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to request a replacement certificate. A £40 fee will apply for this service and it will take 4-6 weeks to get a replacement to you. You can only request a replacement copy if the original is lost or destroyed.
    • Open University: Open University Replacement Certificate

    • Leeds Beckett University: Leeds Beckett University Replacement Certificate
    • University of Sunderland University of Sunderland Replacement Certificate

    If you studied with New College Durham before 1995 you are likely to have an award validated by CNAA and should use the link below to obtain confirmation of your award:

    If you qualified as a Social Worker before the introduction of the social work degree and have lost your certificate, you can apply for a letter to verify your qualification here Social Work England.  

  • Transcripts and Diploma Supplements

    Transcripts and Diploma Supplements

    Academic Registry will provide replacement transcripts and diploma supplements for recent HE qualifications. We will charge £12 per document which can be provided as a PDF or a paper copy. This may take us up to one week to process.

    If you have a copy of a document which you require us to certify we will charge you £5 and this may also take us up to one week to process.

    We have limited data available prior to 2008 and may not be able to provide a full transcript or diploma supplement, however we may be able to provide a summary of any module information we have in an alternative format. There will be no charge for this.

    Please note the College does not provide an Apostille service therefore students with Apostille enquiries relating to transcripts or degree certificates should contact the FCO Legalisation Office.

    Please be aware that students are responsible for updating their contact details and New College Durham are not responsible for any certificates that have not been received due to changes of address.     Information and Records are responsible for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.  We ensure that the College protects personal data and provides an individual with their personal information when requested under the Data Protection Act.  You can make a request via This email address is being protected from spambots.     In addition to providing requests for information made under the Freedom of Information Act, the College maintains a Publication Scheme of documents.  Many of these are accessible directly from the list, or where they are not immediately available, contact information on how to obtain a copy is provided.  The publication scheme can be accessed here Freedom of Information 

    Before making a Freedom of Information request you are advised to check the publication scheme first, as this may be quickest way to obtain the formation you are looking for.
