Age 16-18
FREE (If meet residency criteria and not enrolled at another educational institution).
If you are aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31 August in the year you begin your course, not enrolled at another educational institution and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years, your course will be FREE. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips.
Age 19+
If you are aged 19 or older on 31 August in the year you begin your course, not enrolled at another educational institution and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years, your course could be free dependant on the level of the course and your eligibility criteria. Student Finance
If you are aged 19 or over and not eligible to get your course free, you could apply for an Advanced Learner Loan from the Student Loans Company to help towards the cost of some, or all, of your fees. If the amount of Advanced Learner Loan available to you is less than the Advanced Learner Loan Fee for your course, you would need to pay the difference. This course will provide you with an in-depth understanding of plumbing, and will help you gain the knowledge and skills to pursue a career in this sector.
You will have practical training in our industry standard workshops where you will gain both hands-on experience and theoretical knowledge.
Entry Criteria
You will hold a Level 2 Plumbing qualification.
Additional Costs
You will be required to purchase boots and overalls.
What are the next steps?
To assess your suitability to the course, you will have an interview with a member of the curriculum team and undertake initial assessments in literacy, numeracy and practical skills.
Study Aims
This plumbing course aims to provide learners with the theoretical and practical skills required to work within the plumbing sector.

Cold water system planning and design
Hot water system planning and design
Central heating system planning and design
Sanitation system planning and design
Environmental technology systems
Site procedures and planning
You will have a weekly tutorial, take part in course enrichment activities, and study maths and English.
Teaching and Assessment
You will complete six online examinations and six practical portfolio units.
Industry Links
Our links with industry allow you to gain knowledge from guest speakers, visits to industry, and local and national plumbing competitions.
Placement
You will be given the opportunity to work with plumbing and heating company D J McGough, to gain hands-on experience and develop your skills.
You could progress to a HNC and HND in a relevant area or work as a plumber.
