This T-Level in Plumbing and Heating Engineering has been developed in collaboration with employers and businesses so that the content meets the needs of industry and prepares you for work.
Plumbing and Domestic Heating Technicians are at the forefront of installing new and exciting environmental technologies, such as heat pumps, solar thermal systems, biomass boilers and water recycling systems.
You will work on appliances and equipment that can include gas, oil and solid fuel boilers as well as pumps, heat emitters, bathroom furniture or controls as part of a cold water, hot water, and central heating or above ground drainage and rainwater systems.
Entry Criteria
You will hold GCSEs at grade 4 in maths, English and science.
You will need to be able to commit to an industry placement of at least 45 days.

Study Aims
This two-year qualification aims to ensure you have the knowledge and skills needed to progress into highly skilled employment, an apprenticeship or higher-level study, in the specialist area of plumbing and heating engineering.
You will develop the theory and practical behind the installation of plumbing and heating systems, including taking accurate measures, marking, cutting, bending and jointing metallic and non-metallic pipework.

Teaching and Assessment
Teaching will be a variety of classroom based, self-study and workplace learning activities.
Your industry placement is assessed through your performance in the workplace by your work-based supervisor and your tutor.
As a T-Level plumbing and heating technician, you will be coached so you are able to work independently or as a team. You will develop the knowledge and skills needed to ensure that both the system and appliances are appropriately selected and correctly installed, often without any supervision, and done so in a safe, efficient, and economical manner to minimise waste.
Placement
The T-Level is 80% classroom-based learning and 20% industry placement. You will undertake a minimum of 315 hours of work placement in industry.
You will always perform to the best of your ability and conduct yourself in a professional manner as if an employee of your placement organisation.
You could progress to a Level 3 Plumbing & Heating Apprenticeship.
