Academic Registry Services

Academic Registry are responsible for certificating all courses studied at New College Durham. We can also confirm the validity of documents issued by New College Durham and provide information of previous qualifications studied here. Further details can be found below in the Qualifications and Certificates section.

Academic Registry are also responsible for Data Protection and Freedom of Information. Further details can be found below in the Information and Records section.

Qualifications and Certificates

All Higher Education (HE) certificate or previous qualification queries should be directed to registry@newdur.ac.uk.

If you have not received your HE certificate within three months of the final assessment board for your programme or have any other query regarding your certificate, transcript or diploma supplement, please contact registry@newdur.ac.uk. For replacement HE certificates, please see the relevant section below.

All queries regarding Further Education (FE) qualifications achieved within the last five years should be directed to exams@newdur.ac.uk. Any FE queries for qualifications achieved longer than five years ago should be directed to registry@newdur.ac.uk. For replacement FE certificates, please see the relevant section below.

Higher Education Replacement Certificates

Replacement certificates are available from the relevant awarding body. There is usually a fee for this service and the awarding body’s website will have further information about costs and how to apply (see the individual links below).

If you studied with New College Durham before 1995 you are likely to have an award validated by CNAA and should use the link below to obtain confirmation of your award:

If you qualified as a Social Worker before the introduction of the social work degree and have lost your certificate, you can apply for a letter to verify your qualification here Social Work England.  

Transcripts and Diploma Supplements

Registry can provide transcripts or diploma supplements for recent HE qualifications; however, students should be aware that we have limited data prior to 2008 and may provide module details in an alternative document. There is no charge for this service.

Apostille Services

Please note the College does not provide an Apostille service therefore students with Apostille enquiries relating to transcripts or degree certificates should contact the FCO Legalisation Office.

Further Education Replacement Certificates

Please be aware that students are responsible for updating their contact details and New College Durham are not responsible for any certificates that have not been received due to changes of address. Contact details should be updated prior to certificates being issued via email to cishelpdesk@newdur.ac.uk or via Student Advantage.

Information and Records 

Information and Records are responsible for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.  We ensure that the College protects personal data and provides an individual with their personal information when requested under the Data Protection Act.  You can make a request via dataprotection@newdur.ac.uk. We also deal with non-personal information requests made under Freedom of Information via foi@newdur.ac.uk

Freedom of Information Publication Scheme 

In addition to providing requests for information made under the Freedom of Information Act, the College maintains a Publication Scheme of documents.  Many of these are accessible directly from the list, or where they are not immediately available, contact information on how to obtain a copy is provided.  The publication scheme can be accessed here Freedom of Information 

Before making a Freedom of Information request you are advised to check the publication scheme first, as this may be quickest way to obtain the formation you are looking for.
