Our Football Development Centre gives talented young players, aged 16+, thNewCollegeDurham Football 280621 125 1000pxe chance to combine academic studies with practical football experience and is designed to bridge the gap between grassroots and academy football.

All players who would like to be part of the Football Development Centre must come along to a training camp. 

At the camps, you will take part in technical and tactical coaching sessions and play practice matches.

Our coaches will be on hand throughout to assess your performance so they can place you in the team that best suits your skills and ability.

  • Games programme

    • You will represent New College Durham and Newcastle United Foundation in the EFL Community and Education Football Alliance, NECL and Cups.
    • You will play against other Premier League and Football League representative teams such as Newcastle United, Leeds United, Sheffield United, Sheffield Wednesday and Sunderland, respectively.

  • Strength and conditioning

    In addition to a comprehensive pre-season fitness programme, you will participate in weekly gym and pitch-based strength and conditioning training.

    Our strength and conditioning team are all qualified and will also deliver individual training plans to help improve physical development and manage injury prevention.

  • Performance analysis

    Using our state-of-the-art GPS technology, you will have the opportunity to be fitted with a tracking system that will analyse your performance so we can improve your individual performance, and the overall performance of the team.

  • Video analysis

    Games will be recorded to allow the opportunity to analyse both the team and individual performance, helping support progression opportunities.

  • Nutrition

    You will been provided with opportunities to gain and seek nutritional advice from our qualified staff to support your performance.

    • Additional training opportunities at official Newcastle United venues including, NUFC Academy and First Team Training Centre.

    Studying at New College Durham

    You can join one of our Football Development Centre teams as long as you are enrolled onto a full-time course at New College Durham - this does not need to be a sport course!
