BA (Hons) Education & Training (Top-up)
“I was looking for the opportunity to study a degree part-time on an evening. New College Durham offers a great range of flexible courses that were perfect to study alongside working full-time.
Nicola was looking for a university level course that she could study on an evening to ensure she could still work full-time.
She said:
“I remember looking around the College on one of the open days and I knew I could be successful in that welcoming environment. My lecturers and tutors were always unbelievably helpful and wanted to ensure we succeeded. I received a lot of support from my tutors who were always there to ensure I reached my full potential.
“I found working full-time as a teaching assistant insightful and it helped me with group discussions and my assignments as I was able to reflect upon practice. The social side of the course was great, and the work atmosphere was relaxed but clear expectations were set from day one, so the time was spent efficiently.
“After my final year, I will be a fully qualified teacher. Without my three years at New College Durham, I would not have my bachelors degree. I have really enjoyed my time studying while working as a trainee teacher at Sedgefield Hardwick Primary School.”
