Students' Union

Welcome to New College Durham’s Students’ Union (SU)

We are here to make sure you have the best experience possible at the College. We ensure all students have the opportunity to have a say in their education and the College. All New College Durham students are automatically part of the Students' Union and can access the support, advice and wider services on offer.

We represent our students at the highest decision-making bodies within the College to ensure that your voices are heard. We exist for you and our priorities are governed by you. We are committed to constantly improving your educational experience.

The SU’s main purpose is
‘to advance the education of all New College Durham students’

We achieve this by:

  • Promoting the interests and welfare of students at New College Durham during their programme of study.
  • Representing, advising and supporting students;
  • Being recognised as the representative channel between the students and New College Durham senior leadership and any other external bodies
  • Providing social, cultural and recreational activities and forums for discussion and debate for the personal development of its students.

The National Union of Students (NUS) is the largest student organisation in the UK, representing millions of students and providing a national voice. As part of the NUS we support their core values to promote, defend and extend the rights of students, within New College Durham and alongside NUS on a national level.

Please take charge of your education, get involved, be heard and allow us to help you shape your education to be the best that it can be.
