The Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Electrical installation is intended as a technical level qualification. The study programme is for learners who are 19+ and who are interested in pursuing a career as an electrician. The qualification may also be suitable for other learners, including adults, who are interested in electrical installation and/or are considering a career change.

The qualification builds on the Level 2 Diploma by providing learners with more advanced knowledge and the related practical skills they will need to pursue a career in this occupational area. Learners will practice and be assessed in a secure environment on the installation and testing of electrical equipment in accordance with health and safety requirements, together with the relevant theory of electrical installation to the current edition of the wiring regulations. Learners will utilise BS 7671 and will also acquire relevant understanding of electrical science and principles.

The qualification does not require evidence of occupational competence in the workplace. However, the units of the qualification have been derived from the relevant National Occupational Standards and so contribute to developing the skills and knowledge that have been identified to operate effectively as an electrician. The relationship between the units of the qualification and the relevant National Occupational Standards is set out in Appendix 1.

Entry Criteria

The course is designed for qualified electricians who want to expand their skills to include the installation and maintenance of single electric vehicle charging units in both domestic and commercial properties.

Learners must be 19+ and have a relevant level 2 qualification in this sector.

Additional Costs

You will need a scientific calculator, stationery, safety boots, and safety trousers.

What are the next steps?

You will meet with a course tutor for an informal chat. Please bring the relevant qualifications, as mentioned in entry criteria.
