As a minimum, you must have successfully completed AAT Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Accounting.

You will meet a course tutor for an informal interview. We will ask you about your current role, qualifications and experience to ensure that this programme is right for you. The interview will take approximately 20 minutes. Please bring copies of your previous qualifications with you.
Study Aims
This Level 4 qualification covers complex accounting and finance topics and tasks to develop your confidence in a wide range of financial management skills and applications.
You will gain competencies in drafting financial statements for limited companies, recommending accounting systems strategies and constructing and presenting complex management accounting reports.

Teaching and Assessment
Your tutor will provide guided learning and support you throughout your studies.
In class, sessions will be interactive and will allow you to develop your skills and behaviours as a Professional Accountant.
We recommend you purchase the core text books to complement your studies.
You will have five computer based examinations to take. These are set and marked by the AAT.
You could progress to a relevant higher level professional qualification such as CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA or ICAEW.
Once qualified, and having met the criteria set by the AAT, you can apply for full AAT membership, which will allow you to use the designatory letters MAAT after your name.
If you wish to become a chartered accountant, the study of AAT qualifications may also offer exemptions from the exams required by a range of chartered accountancy bodies.
You could progress to study BA (Hons) Management part-time at New College Durham's University Centre, or a relevant degree at university.
