This course is aimed for people aged 19 years or over.
This Level 1 Bricklaying qualification will prepare you to use the basic tools, techniques and equipment. From cavity walls and blockwork walls to T-junctions and basic decorative features, this introductory course will help you to develop the skills to progress within the construction trade.

Study Aims
The purpose of this bricklaying qualification is to equip you with the knowledge and understanding to progress to further training in bricklaying at Level 2. On completion of Level 2 you will be prepared to progress into a job role in the construction industry.This course will provide you with a range of essential bricklaying skills as well as the supporting knowledge. You will also develop an understanding of the health and safety requirements for working in the construction industry.The Award and Certificate focus on bricklaying but you can choose to complete an extended certificate or diploma to broaden your construction skills and knowledge.

You will receive expert guidance in both the theoretical and practical elements of the course, to allow you to underpin the basic knowledge, skills and behaviours in bricklaying, including the following:
Half brick walls
Cavity walls
Solid walls
T-junctions
Blockwork walls
Basic decorative features
Assessment of this unit will be through the completion of two NOCN devised practical tasks and associated knowledge questions (written or verbal). This unit is internally assessed and internally and externally quality assured using the NOCN assessment booklets to evidence all learning outcomes.
You could progress to Level 2 Diploma Brickwork at New College Durham, to take the next step towards a career in the construction trade.
