Age 16-18
FREE (If meet residency criteria and not enrolled at another educational institution).
If you are aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31 August in the year you begin your course, not enrolled at another educational institution and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years, your course will be FREE. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips.
Age 19+
If you are aged 19 or older on 31 August in the year you begin your course, not enrolled at another educational institution and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years, your course could be free dependant on the level of the course and your eligibility criteria. Student Finance
If you are aged 19 or over and not eligible to get your course free, you could apply for an Advanced Learner Loan from the Student Loans Company to help towards the cost of some, or all, of your fees. If the amount of Advanced Learner Loan available to you is less than the Advanced Learner Loan Fee for your course, you would need to pay the difference. This games design and development course will allow you to develop the skills and attributes required to kick start a career in the ever expanding gaming industry. The course involves practical sessions and exciting projects where your creativity and individual style can be expressed.Your tutors have first-hand experience of the industry and will provide you with an in-depth insight into games design and development.You will benefit from attending gaming conventions, events and you will work closely with industry professionals.
Additional Costs
You will be asked to make a contribution of £30 to cover resources, trips and visits.

Industry Links
Your tutors will have first-hand experience of the industry and will have strong links with gaming companies in and around the North East. Our team will continue to develop more exciting links to provide you with fantastic opportunities.
Placement
We work collaboratively with industry and have a dedicated Work Experience team who will support you to find work experience opportunities and placements. We will also support you to source your own placements.Placement opportunities and live client briefs will provide you with an insight into how the industry operates and how your skills will be applied in the world of work.
You could progress to study a relevant degree or higher apprenticeship at New College Durham or university, or you could progress to work in the industry.
