FREE (If meet residency criteria and not enrolled at another educational institution).

If you are aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31 August in the year you begin your course, not enrolled at another educational institution and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years, your course will be FREE. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips.

Age 19+

If you are aged 19 or older on 31 August in the year you begin your course, not enrolled at another educational institution and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years, your course could be free dependant on the level of the course and your eligibility criteria. This qualification encourages an understanding of the knowledge and the skills needed to care for young children. They cover children’s growth, learning and development. There are also units to help with self-development. Learners from Level 1 Diploma Caring for Children usually progress on to our L2 Early Years Practitioner programme.

Modules Studied

There are 13 modules to study on Level 1, including Safeguarding, health and safety, music with children, the importance of play. There are no formal exams for the Level 1 programme, everything is assessed through course work. You may need to sit exams for maths and English, if required.

Times of Delivery

Level 1 Diploma in Caring for Children is taught over 10 hours per week, in addition you will also attend personal development and may need to attend maths and English if you do not secure those grades at GCSE level. Days are to be confirmed.
