You will support teachers in schools by planning and preparing for lessons, developing professional relationships, encouraging positive behaviour and assessing learning.

You will have an interview with the Apprenticeship team.
As part of your interview you will carry out an English and maths assessment which will help us assess your suitability for the course.
Please bring with you any former qualifications. Please bring evidence of relevant qualifications and proof of ID, e.g. passport or driving license or birth certificate.
Study Aims
This teaching assistant apprenticeship programme is perfect for those working in a primary or secondary school with 5-16-year olds.
You will carry out a variety of support activities with the teachers in schools, planning and preparing for lessons.
You will be working alongside teachers in the workplace, learning about schools as organisations and how they can further their learning once qualified.

Teaching and Assessment
You will be expected to complete written assignments for each unit, as well as reflective accounts and professional discussions, and be observed in the workplace by an Apprenticeship Skills Coordinator.
Once you have completed the diploma, along with the certificates for maths and English, you will enter Gateway for End Point Assessment (EPA). This will be an observation in the workplace, carried out by an independent assessor from the awarding organisation, and then a professional discussion around a portfolio of evidence.
End Point Assessment
The final assessment for the qualification is an End Point Assessment (EPA) which must be passed to achieve the full qualification.

GCSE maths or GCSE English Level 2 Maths or Level 2 English (Functional skills)
Placement
You must secure employment in a school setting to be able to start on this apprenticeship.
