This dynamic full-time course will give you an excellent understanding of the travel and tourism industry, and prepare you for further study.

Entry Criteria

In order to access this course you must possess a minimum of four GCSEs at grade 3 (D) or above. Ideally this will include English and maths, or a Level 1 Travel and Tourism qualification.

You will be required to full uniform in all travel and tourism sessions.

Study Aims

This qualification aims to prepare you for a career within Travel and Tourism organisations, or progression onto Level 3. The aims of the programme are to:

  • Provide an educational foundation for a range of careers in the Travel Industry
  • Provide relevant studies for seeking employment
  • Provide flexibility, knowledge, skills and motivation as a basis for future studies and career development
  • Develop a range of skills and techniques, personal qualities and attitudes essential for successful performance in working life.
You will be offered multiple opportunities to develop your knowledge and skills. This will involve pinpointing and exploring tourist destinations and areas of interest around the world, including visitor attractions and events. The qualification will provide you with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the different kinds of package holidays available to different types of customer, and you will develop an awareness of the promotional activities practiced in order to sell travel and tourism products and services.

Modules Studied

We cover a wide variety of units on the programme to give a thorough insight in to the Travel and Tourism industry, they include:

  • Worldwide Destinations
  • Interpersonal Skills in Travel and Tourism
  • UK Travel and Tourism Destinations
  • The Structure of Travel and Tourism
  • Principles of Customer
  • Service in Hospitality Travel & Tourism
  • Cruise
  • Travel Planning.
Alongside the main programme of study, this course aims to develop your employability skills. This will be achieved through the introduction of guest speakers, work placements, competitions, visits to employers and trips (regionally and nationally).

Placement

As part of the programme, you will be required to partake in a two week work placement within the travel industry. This will be to gain skills and experience within the environment you will be training to work within.
