An exciting new chapter in your life starts here! We understand that travelling to the UK to live and study may be overwhelming and very different, but we want to ensure you we will be here each step of the way.

  • I’m not sure if I have the right qualifications, can you help with this?

We can also let you know what your qualifications are equivalent to in the UK education system.

  • Moving to a new country is a big step, will I receive support?

    Yes, the college has a dedicated international office who will assist you from your initial application and settling in, as well as throughout your studies.

  • Will I get support with finding somewhere to live?

    Yes, during your interview the International Office will give you an overview of the accommodation options below and send you all the relevant information.

    • Private rented accommodation can range from £95 per week upwards – this may or may not include bills too. You will also need to pay a refundable deposit. 
    • Homestay accommodation offers an experience where you will live with a local family who will help you find your way around the city and immerse you in Durham culture. Find out more about what a homestay will provide for £150 per week - pdf click here (1.05 MB) .

  • I need help with my Visa application, can you help me?

    Yes, we can answer any questions you have on your visa application and also give you an information sheet with some assistance to completing the online form.

  • When I arrive in the UK I’m not going to know many people, will there be social activities to meet new people?

    Yes, our International Office will arrange an international student induction which will incorporate social activities for opportunities to meet new people.

    We offer an extensive social activities programme so you can socialise with other international students, see what Durham and the North East of England has to offer and explore the rest of the UK . In addition, you can take part in seasonal festivities and activities. 

    You could:

    • Explore York's beautiful walled city and its Roman, Viking, and Medieval heritage.
    • Visit Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland, with its historic, hilly-landscapes, castle and scotch whiskey!
    • Discover Whitby, a traditional seaside resort with a rich maritime history, and be inspired by its ruined abbey and church on the cliff.
    • Experience the spectacular scenery in the Lake District, take a boat trip or visit one of the many quirky market towns.
    • Take part in Christmas festivities, such as ice skating and enjoying a delicious Christmas dinner.
