Study Aims
This introduction to construction qualification is perfect for you if you do not hold GCSEs or if you want to experience all aspects of the industry before choosing your trade.
You will gain the basic skills and level of maths and English needed to progress into your chosen trade.
Modules Studied
You will study the core modules that cover Skills for Construction Crafts and Health and Safety.The course will include assessments based on developing the following skills:
Bricklaying
- Half brick walls
- Cavity walls
- Solid walls
- T-junctions
- Blockwork walls
- Basic decorative features
- Skirting and architraves
- Floor joists
- Flooring
- Door lining
- Hanging a door
- Window frames
- Fixed truss
- Units and worktops
- Preparing surfaces
- Applying foundation and plain papers
- Painting doors, walls, ceilings, features and timber surfaces
- Producing standard decorative finishes
Teaching and Assessment
Assessments will include practical tasks and knowledge questions (written or verbal).
This course is internally assessed and internally and externally quality assured using the NOCN assessment booklets to evidence all learning outcomes.
