This course is aimed for people aged 19 years or over.
This part-time course will allow you to develop key barbering skills, such as cutting and styling men's hair, as well as trimming and caring for facial hair. Make sure you are prepared to work in this fast paced, client based industry with practical training in our on-site salon, Halo.

Study Aims
This part-time barbering course aims to provide you with practical opportunities to develop the skills and technical knowledge required to work in the barbering industry.
You will practice your skills in our on-site salon and complete an external work placement.
Modules Studied
You will study the following units:
- Work in the hair industry
- Follow health and safety practice in the salon
- Client consultation for hair services
- Shampoo and condition the hair and scalp
- Cut men's hair
- Cut facial hair
- The art of colouring

Monday 1pm-7.30pm

Teaching and Assessment
You will be assigned a personal tutor for the duration of your course. You will carry out practical assessments with your tutor once you feel you are ready to be assessed.
The assessments will be carried out at various points in the year.
Each unit will involve assignments and/or internal exams. You will be required to provide some clients and models throughout the year to work on, so that you can maximise your learning and explore the skills you have been learning.

Placement
You will be required to undertake a relevant work placement in either a hairdressing salon or barbershop for a minimum of 70 hours.
You could progress to Level 3 course or employment in the industry.
