This course is aimed for people aged 19 years or over.
This emergency paediatric first aid course is perfect for those with a responsibility for the care of children and babies. You will gain the knowledge and skills required to deal with a range of paediatric first aid conditions and incidents.
Entry Criteria
Due to the practical nature of the first aid assessment, you must be able to demonstrate your skills as in a real-life situation, to meet the physical demands.
It is recommended that you hold a minimum of Level 1 in literacy, or equivalent, to undertake this qualification.
You will be aged 16 and over.

Study Aims
This emergency paediatric first aid qualification is designed for those with a responsibility for the care of children and babies. It will provide you with the knowledge and skills to deal with a range of paediatric first aid conditions and incidents.
The FAA Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid qualification is unit 1 of the two-day FAA Award in Paediatric First Aid qualification. The qualification fulfils the requirements for first aid training detailed in the Department for Education’s Statutory framework for the early years foundation stage.
Achieving this qualification will meet Ofsted requirements but it is an employer’s responsibility to ensure that there is adequate cover for the establishment of both 2-day and 1-day qualified paediatric First Aid personnel.

Any times indicated are based on current courses and may be subject to change in future years. Full timetables will be confirmed at the start of each course.
Teaching and Assessment
The qualification is assessed through practical demonstration and related oral questioning.
You must successfully complete all practical demonstrations and correctly answer the oral questions to achieve the qualification. There is no grading of the assessment; you pass or are referred.
Practical assessment scenarios will be set to enable you to demonstrate your knowledge and practical skills. During the practical assessment, you will be asked related questions by the Trainer/Assessor. The practical assessment is ongoing throughout the course, but the Trainer/Assessor will make you aware of when you are being assessed.
