Entry Criteria
Standard Entry criteria
- You should hold a Level 5 qualification (HND/FdA/international equivalent 120 ECTS Credits) in a related discipline.
- You must be interviewed by the curriculum team (international applicants via internet (e.g. Skype).
- To have or be working towards Level 2 or equivalent in maths and English Language (or a minimum 5.5 IELTS in each band for international applicants).
Non-standard entry criteria:
- Evidence of appropriate film and/or media production experience or employment within the film and/or media production sectors (evidenced through portfolio, CV or showreel)
- You must be interviewed by the curriculum team (international applicants via internet (e.g. Skype).

Additional Costs
A financial contribution towards optional trips and visits is expected.
Furthermore, it is recommended that you purchase a 32GB SD card (preferably class 10, 90MB/s), and optionally, a large memory stick or external hard drive, along with over-ear headphones.

You will meet with course tutors. Please bring with you a showreel of creative moving image work or a range of examples of creative practice. Your interview will consist of some questions and opportunities for discussion. You will find out more about the course, resources and opportunities for progression, plus you will be shown the facilities within the department and possibly have the chance to see other learners on campus.
Study Aims
This programme has been developed in reaction to new demands on skills and knowledge, by employers and by an industry that is moving quickly and growing exponentially.As such, a flexible and dynamic approach to module design concentrates on attitudinal and creative thinking outcomes that demonstrate students’ capacity to combine enterprising and innovative thinking, with established research methodologies. You will aim to master three key areas of innovation, enterprise and entrepreneurship which underpin your learning. These areas are explored through research and practical projects, initiated through a systematic understanding of film and media, its forms and its application to enterprise.Also core to the aims of the programme are the practice and refining of communication and collaboration skills through practice, in simulated environments and with real stakeholders. Broader transferable skills will be developed, with the intention of creating employable, adaptive, reflexive problem solvers with the skills and knowledge to create successful film and media enterprises.You will:
- Apply film and media enterprise techniques and methods in the production of film and/or media products, using innovation and entrepreneurship, in simulated and/or live scenarios.
- Critically evaluate current research, trends, audiences and innovations in order to make judgements, form arguments and identify areas for further study.
- Communicate information, ideas, arguments, problems and solutions through clear written, verbal and audio/ visual outcomes, including the results of research conducted.
- Demonstrate decision-making and use of initiative in complex and unpredictable contexts, working independently and in collaboration with others.
- Adopt a reflective and critical approach to skills building and personal and professional development in the context of industry careers, employability and own ambitions.

Enterprise in Film and Media 1
- This module supports the development of skills and practice associated with enterprise and film and media project and business management. With a focus on current markets, cutting edge trends and business models in corporate, commercial and film production, you will engage in assignment activities which seek to develop your skills and understanding of enterprise and entrepreneurship.]]]Development Portfolio and Critique Enterprise in Film and Media 2[[[This module builds on the development of skills and practices associated with enterprise and film and media project and business management in Enterprise 1 – applying learning to the refinement of business ideas and plans.]]]Business Plan Innovation in Film and Media[[[This is a research project on an area of innovative practice. You are encouraged to conduct in-depth research leading to conclusions about innovations in film and media, contextualising findings to your own ambitions and directions within film and media enterprise. Academic skills are supported and developed through practice of research methodologies, instruments, ethics, and academic writing and referencing.]]]Research Study or Documentary Video Production Collaborative Project[[[The Collaborative Project is a substantial, practical demonstration of work-ready skills related to your specialism within film and media. You will work collaboratively in a variety of ways; internally within your course cohort, externally with other disciplines and courses within the college, in projects developed with industry, and for clients. Emphasis will be placed on developing entrepreneurial approaches that build on Enterprise ideas.

Placement
A work placement is not a fundamental expectation of this top-up degree programme. You will be encouraged to source work experience opportunities, to allow you to stretch your knowledge, understanding and practical skills beyond what you have learned in your modules. Work placements are a great chance for you to develop a range of work-based skills needed for progression. Work related skills will be developed across the course modules such as Enterprise and Collaborative Project.
You may choose to progress to study a masters or equivalent programme, work in a related field and/or develop new business ideas in Film and Media.
