This course is aimed for people aged 19 years or over.
This qualification is designed to prepare you for working as an exercise professional within the exercise and fitness industry.
Combining theory with practical application, our experienced fitness professionals will give you the tools you need to be successful in a thriving but competitive industry.
Developing your knowledge and skills in our gym, Steps2Fitness, will allow you to pursue a career in personal training, and plan and deliver safe and effective programmes for clients.
Entry Criteria
Experience of gym-based exercises is highly recommended, such as free weights.
The course requires physical exertion, and individual participation is essential; therefore, a level of physical fitness is necessary.
There is an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) involved.

Study Aims
This fitness instructor and personal trainer course aims to provide you with the professional skills and knowledge to allow you to prescribe, plan and deliver safe and effective programmes.
You will develop an advanced knowledge and excellent technique and skills to pursue a career in personal training.
Modules Studied
You will complete the following mandatory units:
Anatomy and physiology for exercise
Know how to support clients who take part in exercise and physical activity
Health, safety and welfare in a fitness environment
Principles of exercise, fitness and health
Planning gym-based exercise
Instructing gym-based exercise
Anatomy and physiology for exercise and health
Applying the principles of nutrition to a physical activity programme
Programming personal training with clients
Delivering personal training sessions.
Teaching and Assessment
You will take part in weekly theory Zoom sessions on a Saturday, and will have regular contact with your tutor through email.
The practical elements of the course will be delivered on campus in the College's gym, Steps2Fitness.

Practical Demonstration/Assignment.
