Gain an in-depth understanding of the principles and practices of the Sports & Fitness industry, to allow you to explore the avenues of work within sector.
You will also gain transferable skills, such as leadership, coaching, decision making, collaboration, teamwork, communication, active reflection, planning and problem-solving skills.
Entry Criteria
4 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and maths
Additional Costs
You will be asked to contribute £30 at the start of the year for trips and visits.
What are the next steps?
At the interview stage, you will attend a group presentation, to get more information about the course and to discuss the College’s expectations. You will then have a one-to-one chat with a member of the sports team. You will be asked a range of questions during your one-to-one so we can find out more about you, your interests, and your strengths.

Times of Delivery
You will be provided with a timetable at the start of your programme.
However the programme is likely to run over 4 days between the hours of 9am - 5pm.

Teaching and Assessment
Our expert tutors will share their experiences of working within the sports sector to ensure you gain the relevant experience and skills needed to work within the sports industry.
You will complete a range of practical and theory-based assessments. Throughout the course, you will receive written and verbal feedback for all assignments. You will also receive continuous support and opportunities to reflect on your progress to make sure you achieve your goals.
A variety of assessment methods are used, including: • Written Assignments • Practical Assessments • Presentations • Case studies • Observation of Performance • Reports • Posters • Factsheets • Workbooks • Discussions
After completing the Level 3, you could progress to FdSc Sports Coaching & Development at New College Durham, or a relevant degree at university, or gain employment within the sports sector.
