This apprenticeship is all about assembling, positioning, and securing ready-made components on construction sites. You'll be working with a wide range of materials, such as concrete, timber, and composite materials.
You will work on site to help build amazing structures, such as houses, schools, hospitals, and more.
As an apprentice in this field, you'll get to work with a dynamic and adaptable team of colleagues and supervisors at the forefront of construction. You'll also collaborate with other professionals, like architects, engineers, and construction managers. It's a hands-on job that will require a vast range of skills.
Your main task will be to assemble and install components according to specific designs and guidelines. You'll learn how to handle materials safely, move them around, and finish the construction work. Don't worry, you'll have the support of experienced team members or supervisors to guide you along the way.
The apprenticeship offers several exciting routes for you to choose from. Depending on your employer, you can specialise in working with timber frames, relocatable modular and portable buildings, or permanent modular buildings. Each path will give you valuable skills and knowledge in your chosen area.

4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English and maths or Functional Skills Level 1

One crucial requirement is having a supportive employer who will not only guide you but also help you gather the evidence required for the MMC programme.
Additional Costs
You'll need to purchase protective safety boots to wear in the workshop and on the construction site.
In addition, you'll also need some essential stationery to help you stay organised.

You will be invited to meet with one of the course tutors.
At this stage, you will be guided through several tasks, helping us assess your suitability for the course and your learning ‘starting point’.
Please bring evidence of relevant qualifications and proof of ID, e.g. passport, driving license or birth certificate.

Times of Delivery
You will attend college on day release one day per week.

Teaching and Assessment
You will learn both on-the-job in a real working environment and in our carpentry and joinery workshop, equipped with industry standard facilities, tools and materials.
You will be assessed using the following methods:
- Knowledge questions
- A portfolio of evidence
- Practical observations
End Point Assessment
You will receive excellent support to ensure you progress and reach targets to complete the programme.
The End Point Assessment (EPA) is a three-part assessment that involves a multiple-choice online test, an observation of practical work with questioning and a candidate interview.
The EPA must be passed to achieve the full qualification.
After completing the Construction Assembly and Installation Operative (MMC) course, you can pursue advanced qualifications or degrees in construction, gaining specialised expertise and leadership opportunities.
Professional qualifications and memberships, along with continuous learning, can further enhance your career prospects and industry recognition.
