Age 16-18

FREE (If meet residency criteria and not enrolled at another educational institution).

If you are aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31 August in the year you begin your course, not enrolled at another educational institution and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years, your course will be FREE. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips.

Age 19+

If you are aged 19 or older on 31 August in the year you begin your course, not enrolled at another educational institution and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years, your course could be free dependant on the level of the course and your eligibility criteria. This course is aimed for people aged 19 years or over.

Develop your skills and knowledge to prepare for a successful career in the beauty industry with this part-time course at NCD.

From facials, manicures and pedicures to health and safety practices and client care, this course will ensure you are prepared to work in a salon.

Study Aims

This part-time beauty therapy course aims to develop your skills and knowledge, and enhance your opportunities to succeed within the beauty industry.

You will develop practical skills and theoretical knowledge. You will also complete formative and summative assessments, as well as an exam at the end of every unit.

Modules Studied

You will complete the following units:

  • Working in beauty related industries
  • Follow health and safety practice in the salon
  • Client care and communication in beauty related industries
  • Provide facial skincare
  • Provide manicure treatments
  • Provide pedicure treatments

Times of Delivery

The course will be delivered on a Tuesday between 5pm and 9pm.

Any times indicated are based on current courses and may be subject to change in future years. Full timetables will be confirmed at the start of each course.

Teaching and Assessment

Each unit will involve assignments and/or internal and external exams. You will be observed during practical sessions carrying out Formative and Summative assessments where you will be required to provide some clients and models throughout the year to work on to maximise your learning experience.

You will have the opportunity to attend Beauty workshops and learn more about the industry and meet employers.
