This beauty therapy professional apprenticeship combines studying and gaining a qualification while developing your skills in a real working environment, to prepare you for a career as a beauty therapist.
You will gain evidence from your place of work, which will contribute towards the achievement of your apprenticeship.
Entry Criteria
You will have support from an employer to enrol onto our apprenticeship programme one day a week. You must be prepared to attend College one day per week and work in the salon up to 40 hours over the remaining days of the week.
You should hold a grade 4/C in English and a minimum of a grade 2 in maths. Further studying of maths will be undertaken to meet the standard expectation on maths.

Additional Costs
You will be required to attend college in a salon uniform - you will be required to purchase one if you are unable to wear the uniform you wear when working in the salon with your employer.You will have the option to purchase a kit for your course. Additionally, as part of your course you will be expected a £5 deposit for a locker.
What are the next steps?
You will be invited to attend an interview with a curriculum team member, where you will be provided with further course information and expectations will be discussed to ensure you make an informed choice. Your chosen employer will need to offer the full range of services identified within the standard to enable you to make the relevant progress towards your End Point Assessment (EPA).Please bring your GCSE grades and any other qualifications relevant to induction. At this stage your suitability to the course will be assessed.
Study Aims
This beauty apprenticeship programme will enable you to earn while you learn and will ensure you gain vital hands on experience in delivering a range of treatments, such as waxing, nail services, eyebrows and eyelashes and day and evening make-up looks.
You will attend college one day per week where you will be required to organise clients (16+ years old) when needed.

Teaching and Assessment
An apprenticeship programme combines real workplace learning with classroom-based theory, portfolio building and underpinning knowledge. Practical Assessments will be carried out within college as well as in the workplace. Your assessor will visit you regularly to ensure you are making continuous progress. Your allocated assessor will carry out workplace reviews with you and your employer to ensure you are progressing and achieving the requirements of the course.
As part of this Level 2 Beauty Therapy Professional Standard, you will undertake an external exam for both your theory understanding and your practical skill level.
End Point Assessment
The final assessment for the qualification is an End Point Assessment (EPA) which must be passed to achieve the full qualification.

This programme covers all aspects of beauty and allows you to learn the craft alongside qualified beauticians. Throughout your time at college, you will work in our fantastic commercial hair and beauty salon and will learn the skills and techniques needed to work in the industry.
You could choose to progress on to a Level 3 in Beauty Therapy We also offer a range of part-time courses for you to further develop you skills with popular treatments such as Brow Lamination, Individual Lash Extensions, Lash Lift and Nail Extensions.
