A huge congratulations to our motor vehicle apprentices for completing the programme with flying colours.
Well done to Arek Szymanski who was awarded NCD Motor Vehicle Apprentice of the Year for his outstanding dedication, exceptional skill level and remarkable achievements.
Arek Szymanski said:
“This apprenticeship has prepared me to progress within the industry. The support I have received from the automotive team has been second to none. With the experience and knowledge I’ve gained during my time at NCD, I am now working alongside industry experts to carry out extensive diagnostics and repairs at a BMW specialist workshop.”
Iam Sturdy, Programme Leader, commented:
“Arek has consistently demonstrated an unparalleled work ethic, going above and beyond expectations to deliver outstanding results. He evidenced an advanced knowledge and understanding of vehicle mechanics, diagnostics, and repair procedures and was awarded a distinction for his practical end point assessment. Arek has been a pleasure to teach.”
Owner of Maddison Autos Limited, Tony Breeze, took on motor vehicle apprentices Clayton Blake and Lewis Blackett. Clayton and Lewis recently completed their apprenticeship with NCD.
Tony said:
“I am extremely proud of Clayton and Lewis. New College Durham has been instrumental in helping the lads gain the knowledge and practical skills they need to achieve. They have been hungry to learn more with us and in college which is really positive to see. They come into work after their college day keen to talk about what they have been doing and what they have learnt. I have had four apprentices with New College Durham and they are now all integral parts of my business, and I really couldn’t do without them. Maddison Autos will be taking on another apprentice in September 2023.”
Clayton commented:
“I have been at NCD to complete my Level 2 and Level 3 and the programmes have equipped me with the skills, knowledge and confidence required to be successful in the workplace. The workshops prepared me for the workplace as they were kitted out with modern vehicles and equipment. I really enjoyed my experience at NCD, I made new friends and the mix of theory and practical helped me gain a greater understanding of diagnosis and repair.”
Lewis added:
“I thoroughly enjoyed my time at New College. My tutors supported me throughout my Level 2 and Level 3 to achieve both qualifications and be successful in my chosen career.”
Ian Sturdy, Programme Leader, commented:
“It has been a pleasure to teach and witness Clayton and Lewis grow and develop as automotive technicians. It has been immensely gratifying and I wish them every success in the future.”
