School children are encouraged to participate in a story writing competition based around a given topic. This year, the theme was ‘Stories with a Twist’, and a panel of local authors judged the shortlisted stories to pick one main winner and several runners up to be featured.
The book is designed and illustrated by students and professionals, and published and printed locally, then sold in Waterstones and on Amazon. All proceeds are donated to a charity called ‘The Toby Henderson Trust’ and re-invested into the initiative.
The Challenge encouraged budding illustrators and designers to share their vision for any of the stories, providing opportunity to showcase their style, creative strengths and interests using any medium or technique they wish.
This exciting live brief opened a door for the students to get exposure working on a national project. The 15 students celebrated having at least one of their illustrations displayed in the book.
