On Wednesday, we celebrated a new partnership with Samuel King’s School – the smallest secondary school in the country, with just 72 students, located in the Alston, Cumbria.
Our School Engagement Team continue to build a strong relationship with Samuel King’s Head Teacher, Gill Jackson, following their first visit to introduce New College Durham and what we offer to their students, and attending subsequent parents’ evenings.
More recently, the school’s Year 10 and Year 11 students visited our campus to get a taster of various subjects we offer, and to enjoy a guided tour with our School Engagement Team.
To conclude a fantastic year, our School Engagement Team invited the whole school to take part in our summer Discover NCD event.
There was a buzz amongst the students, they expressed that the event was very informative as well as fun, and they were excited for the opportunities at NCD.
Amanda Wheatly, Key Stage 3 Lead, commented:
“There is a professional feel throughout the college. On behalf of our staff and students I think they would all agree that the facilities, particularly the workshops and engineering equipment, are fantastic. NCD offers something for every single one of our students, I have no doubt the college will prepare them with the knowledge and skills they need for the workplace.”
Alison Maynard, Deputy Principal at NCD, said:
“New College is incredibly excited about this fantastic new partnership with Samuel King’s School, it has been a pleasure to have the whole school on campus today. Once again, our Discover NCD event has allowed us to showcase the high standard of education we offer, as well as the support each student will receive to ensure they find a course at NCD that will set them up for a successful future.”
