The Quality and Enhanced Learning team from New College Durham were nominated for the award of Quality Team of the Year. This award celebrates the team who, by demonstrating an outstanding contribution to assuring and improving the quality of provision have made a significant impact towards achieving their organisation's ambitions.

The team consisting of Jo Hall (Teaching & Learning Innovation Lead), Simon Fairbairn (Teaching & Learning Innovation Lead), Alison Erhorn (Teaching & Learning Innovation Lead), Ben Murdoch (Teaching & Learning Innovation Lead), Tim Skelton (Lead Practitioner: e-learning), Una Terry (Quality Officer) and Tracey McKenna (Quality Team Leader) were nominated by their manager, Claire Newton (Assistant Principal for Quality & Enhanced Learning)

Quality Team Leader, Tracey McKenna, said, "After being nominated, we were invited to meet the judging panel to discuss key themes around the impact our team has had on the organisation. This included discussions on what makes our team successful and what advice we would give to other teams and more importantly moving forward, who could learn from our success. Following this we were really happy to learn we had been shortlisted by the judges. Despite not winning this evening we still feel proud of our achievement and feel it is well deserved recognition of the work and collaborative efforts the team put in to support curriculum teams in enhancing the quality of provision and outcomes for our students"

The Quality Professionals Awards honour the contributions made by quality improvement practitioners and leaders in further education and employability. These are the people who play a critical role working alongside delivery teams to pave the way for a bright future for learners and job seekers alike. They aim to elevate the status of quality assurance and compliance and demonstrate the professionalism of the people in these roles.

Deputy Principal of New College Durham, Alison Maynard, said; “Despite not being ultimately successful at the ceremony, all the Senior Leadership Team here at New College Durham are immensely proud of the recognition our colleagues have achieved. It is testimony to their dedication and professionalism that they have reached so far in a nationwide awards programme against such exceptional competition. Being nominated as one of the top eight teams in the country is without doubt a fantastic achievement.
