Our degree level students started their induction to the course with a trip to Sunderland Empire to see the Dirty Dancing official tour on stage. They had the times of their lives!
As part of their induction week project, our first-year degree performing arts students performed excerpts from Sister Act. They rehearsed song, dance and scenes from the musical and performed to a live audience after just two weeks.
All of our performing arts students got up on their feet as they enjoyed The Rocky Horror world tour show also at the Sunderland Empire.
Both theatre trips were closely followed by a performance of their own – our first year performing arts students took to the stage as part of Love Our Colleges Week. Their performance ‘Lockdown’ used monologues written during the first lockdown to address mental health ahead of World Mental Health Day.
In a bespoke dance workshop with Jazz Peters, our students were put through their paces and demonstrated their professionalism and ability to learn choreography.
