T Level Health DNA 2Our T-Level Health students have been learning about the structure and function of DNA.

To get started, the group were provided with strawberry pencils and midget gems to create the complex double stranded molecule and its four bases. They had to follow two rules; only pair the sweets labelled C-G and T-A, and do not eat the sweets!

After creating individual DNA strands, the group looked at how the sequence of bases in DNA act as a code that are read to make us who we are.

Following this, the students answered some exam style questions on DNA.

Health T-Level tutor, Stuart Eggleston, commented:

“Students usually struggle with grasping the structure and function of DNA. I was really impressed with how quickly the group understood both and how well they engaged in the activities.”
